Dhruv Gupta, Sales Manager at Magnetic Engineering, has been passionate about aviation since his early days, and his determination to work in this field did not go unnoticed. Get to know Dhruv better as he shares his career path and the nuances of the sales role in aviation.

Let’s start with the backstory: how did you get into aviation?

Dhruv: I have been passionate about aviation since I was a kid. From plane toys to aviation shows, everything related to aircraft excited me. Thus, when it came time to choose what to study, I already knew what I wanted to do. I chose to move from India to Lithuania to study aviation management, and right after my Bachelor’s degree, I started working with spare parts trading.

How did you start working at Magnetic Engineering?

Dhruv: I was on vacation in Spain when I was approached by the Magnetic team — and from the first line, I was interested: communication was smooth, and the position sounded really interesting, albeit challenging. The whole interview process consisted of a few rounds, so I got to know my colleagues before the final decision was made, which also contributed to my excitement about joining the team.

If you have to describe to others what you do at work, how would it sound?

Dhruv: I bet it could sound pretty exciting to many, as there’s a lot of traveling involved in my line of work! I communicate with clients on a daily basis, whether through on-site and virtual meetings or at industry events and help find best-matching solutions for their needs related to engineering consultations and CAMO services. Each client is different, so my goal is always to get to know them first — this way, we can meet their individual needs.

What would you name as the main challenges in your line of work?

Dhruv: There’s a noticeable lack of CAMO Engineers with the required qualifications. Thus, the workforce challenges are affecting our work, for example, resulting in longer wait times for services. However, competition remains fierce, and companies have to stay agile and constantly improve to keep up.

Besides work, how do you like to spend your time?

Dhruv: My other passion, though closely linked to aviation, is traveling. I like discovering new places and revisiting ones that leave a lasting impression. I also enjoy cycling a lot!

Bonus question: which are the top destinations for you to travel to?

Dhruv: Hands down, Italy and Spain are at the top of my list: warm weather, good food, fantastic architecture, and many things to do there for every taste. Since I am going on vacation to Thailand this May, I will see if I can add this destination to my top-list. Also, I would like to visit Hawaii and the Maldives — hopefully, this dream will become a reality soon!
