Renewable Power Supporting Aircraft Maintenance Processes

At Magnetic MRO, sustainability is a practical operational improvement, not a slogan. As of 2026, all our facilities operate entirely on certified renewable electricity, significantly reducing the environmental impact of our hangar and workshop activities.

Energy demand in MRO facilities is substantial - it powers lighting, test equipment, hangars and component repair stations. Transitioning to green electricity reduces our indirect (Scope 2) emissions while maintaining the reliability and service levels our airline and leasing partners require.

Measurable Impact in Estonia

Our move to renewable energy is significant in scale. In 2025, Magnetic MRO’s operations in Estonia consumed 3.1 GWh of electricity, all sourced from certified renewable energy providers. This means that every maintenance check, component repair, and workshop task carried out at our Estonian facilities was powered by cleaner energy instead of fossil-based electricity.

What 3.1 GWh Represents

To put the scale of 3.1 GWh into perspective:

≈  It could supply roughly 870 average European homes for a year (based on ~3,600 kWh per household).

≈  It could power about 640 electric vehicles for a year (assuming ~4,800 kWh annual consumption per vehicle).

In practical terms for Magnetic MRO, this energy directly supports aircraft availability and reliability with a lower environmental footprint.

Supporting a More Sustainable Aviation Ecosystem

As the aviation industry works toward decarbonization, the role of MRO providers is increasingly important. While aircraft technology and sustainable aviation fuels are crucial pieces of the puzzle, ground operations must evolve too.

By ensuring our facilities run on renewable energy, Magnetic MRO is reducing lifecycle emissions connected to aircraft maintenance. This makes sustainability not just an airline responsibility, but a shared effort across the aviation value chain.

What’s Next?

The transition to renewable electricity is one concrete, measurable step. Magnetic MRO continues advancing our environmental, social and governance roadmap with a focus on:

• Increasing energy efficiency in hangars and workshops;
• Expanding digital monitoring of facility energy use;
• Reducing waste and improving recycling rates.

At Magnetic MRO, operational performance and responsible business practices go hand in hand. Powering facility operations with renewable energy illustrates how sustainability can be integrated into everyday maintenance activities.
