Faces of Magnetic: Christian Mejia
Just recently, Magnetic Group announced the expansion and the opening of its new representative office in Miami – and now we invite you to get to know Christian Mejia, Sales Director at Magnetic Trading, who will be our Face of Magnetic in the region.
Tell us a bit more about your previous experience? How long have you been in aviation?
Christian Mejia: My aviation career started in 2013 thanks to my uncle who owns a FAA & EASA approved repair station in Miami, FL. At the time, I was working at a bank during my university years when my uncle presented an opportunity to join his company, MTI Aviation. I was an Account Manager at MTI, where I maintained and developed new and existing customers for 4 years. I then took an opportunity to join TDA (Touchdown Aviation) as a Repairs Coordinator in early 2017. In less than 2 years since joining the company, I was promoted to the TDA Sales Team. Two years later, based off my sales performances and experience, I was promoted as a Senior Sales Representative at TDA. Forward now to late January of 2022, I officially became the newest member of the Magnetic Group. It has now been a total of about 9 years in aviation and I can’t picture myself in any other industry.
Did you know anything about Magnetic before joining? What was your first impression? -
CM: I was always aware of Magnetic MRO along with the many different departments and diverse services in which the Magnetic Group has to offer. My first impression when I joined sums up to one word: “Remarkable!” Seeing how many achievements and milestones that have been reached by the Magnetic Group is extraordinary. The team members that I have met and been introduced to thus far have been truly amazing.
What do you like the most about working in aviation industry?
CM: There are so many reasons why I love this industry but at the very top of my list, I can easily say I love all the friendships and personal relationships that I’ve gained in this industry. One of my most satisfying feelings is finding solutions for customers, making this another great reason being part of this industry. I have also been very blessed with the many different cities & countries this industry has taken me, as traveling is a huge passion for me.
What are your immediate plans and goals for the start with Magnetic Trading? What are you hoping to achieve? What, in your opinion, will be the main challenges?
CM: My immediate plan is to make sure this new USA expansion of the Magnetic Group is known all throughout the Americas. I am hoping to increase business with existing customers in the region and becoming a helping hand to new customers. The goal is to eventually expand this office and grow a support team in the future. The most challenging factor will be to build something from the ground up with no other local team members but with the support of the Magnetic team overseas, sky is the limit!
Besides work, what are your hobbies? How do you like to wind down after workday?
CM: I am a big sports fan, primarily basketball and American football. I enjoy playing golf as well. I have a passion for traveling, especially visiting new cities/countries that I’ve never been to before. I also like to read books; I try to read a new book every so often. When it comes to winding down, a good Pinot Noir wine bottle after work with the wife is always a great idea!
