For years, Magnetic Group has cultivated a culture of growth and nurturing with the intention of helping our talents develop internally. As part of the initiative, we consistently offer opportunities for students across various divisions to gain real-world and hands-on experience to kick-start their careers. Steffi Sikmann, former HR Intern and now HR Assistant; Martin Paberit, former Basic Mechanic Intern and now Lead Mechanic; and Elisabeth Toomik, prior Basic Mechanic Intern and now Engine Workshop Apprentice, all three are now furthering their professional journeys at the company.

What was the "Aha!" moment during your internship when you realized you wanted to be part of this team long-term?

Steffi: I had my "Aha!" moment in just the second or third week of my internship. I was entrusted with significant responsibilities early on, tasks I wouldn't have dared to ask myself. But my team believed in me, provided guidance, and supported me all throughout. That's when I realized that I wanted to be part of this amazing team long-term.

Elisabeth: For me, it was the moment I found myself at home, missing work. It was then that I realized how much I enjoyed being here and how much I wanted to continue my journey with the Magnetic Engines team.

If you could describe your experience as an intern in one word, what would it be and why?

Martin: If I had to sum it up in one phrase, I would say “very instructive.” During the internship, the experienced team members were always eager to explain things to me and provided clear instructions. Having such hands-on guidance from the start played a huge role in my learning and growth.

Elisabeth: Personally, the descriptive word is “rewarding.” I had the chance to work with so many diverse people, and depending on your career path, you might even work across different departments. This variety made the experience unparalleled. Additionally, I feel like I discovered my true focus – engines - during my internship, which was incredibly satisfactory.

What advice do you have for making the most of the internship?

Steffi: My advice would be to nurture genuine curiosity for acquiring new knowledge. Cultivate that interest within yourself, and you will find numerous opportunities for growth and success within the organization.

Martin: Show enthusiasm for the job, ask plenty of questions, and be patient with yourself. Remember that there is a lot to learn, so actively listen to your experienced team members and take full advantage of the learning opportunities they offer.
